「孫子の開発指南書」

わたし、歴史上２番目に尊敬する人はスティーブ・ジョブズです。最近はその地位がイーロンマスクに脅かされつつあるけれども。では揺るぎのない1位は誰か。それは中国が産んだ兵法の天才「孫子」です。

孫子の兵法書って、現代ビジネスでもまんま使えます。例えば有名なこの教え。「三十六計逃げるにしかず」これ”逃げるが勝ち”という意味です。ややこしいなら難しく考えずに逃げた方がいいよね。って意味ですw

これ確信ついているなぁって感心するんです。現場では決してそんなこと言えませんけれど。システム開発の現場だと「炎上案件」ってことになると思うんですよね。
「炎上案件逃げるにしかず！」って感じかな。w

でも孫子って、本当は三十六計を使ったり、逃げたりしなくて良いように入念に用意して戦うようにね。なんなら戦わずに勝つようにね。って教えています。しょーがなくなったら、逃げた方が早いよ。って言っているだけで大切な教えはその前です。

システムとかハードウェア開発の現場でそのまんま使える教えが多いから、今回の連載は「シリーズ：孫子の開発指南書」として５回に分けて孫子の言葉をみなで勉強しようと思います。

孫子の開発指南序章  ：孫子の開発指南書
孫子の開発指南（１）：彼を知り己をしらば、百戦危うからず。（営業篇）
孫子の開発指南（２）：まず勝って、のちに戦いを求める。（設計篇）
孫子の開発指南（３）：よく戦うものは、人に致して致されず。（PM篇）
孫子の開発指南（４）：兵は拙速を尊ぶ。（納品篇）
孫子の開発指南（５）：戦わずして勝つ。（保守篇）

ね、なんかタイトルだけで使えそうな匂いムンムンするでしょw「兵は詭道なり＝ビジネスは騙し合いだ」と言い切る孫子。そんな孫子の名言はいろんな挨拶の場で鼻の穴を膨らませながら使えること間違いなし！　みんなで覚えていきましょうw

The second person I respect most in history is Steve Jobs, though recently that position has been challenged by Elon Musk. So who holds the unwavering first place? It’s the Chinese military genius “Sun Tzu.”

Sun Tzu’s Art of War can be directly applied to modern business. For instance, take this famous teaching: “Among the thirty-six stratagems, retreat is best.” This means “running away is winning.” If things get complicated, it’s better to retreat rather than overthink – lol.

I’m really impressed by how confident this advice is, though you could never say such things in the workplace. In system development terms, this would apply to “projects on fire.”

It’s like saying “When a project’s on fire, retreat is the best option!” lol
However, Sun Tzu actually teaches us to prepare thoroughly so we don’t need to use the thirty-six stratagems or retreat. Better yet, he teaches us to win without fighting. He only suggests retreating as a last resort – the important lessons come before that.

Since many of his teachings can be directly applied to system and hardware development, this series “Sun Tzu’s Development Guide” will study Sun Tzu’s words over five installments:

Sun Tzu’s Development Guide (1): Know your enemy and know yourself, and you need not fear a hundred battles. (Sales Edition)
Sun Tzu’s Development Guide (2): First secure the victory, then seek battle. (Design Edition)
Sun Tzu’s Development Guide (3): The skilled warrior establishes conditions for victory and is not controlled by the enemy. (Project Management Edition)

Sun Tzu’s Development Guide (5): Supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy’s resistance without fighting. (Maintenance Edition)

Just from the titles, you can smell how useful these will be, right? lol. Sun Tzu boldly states “All warfare is based on deception = Business is about mutual deception.” Such quotes from Sun Tzu will definitely work in various greetings while puffing up your nostrils! Let’s all learn them together! lol
