「先端技術展に行ってきたよ」

幕張メッセで11月20日から22日まで行われていた「NextTechWeek2024」に行ってきた。いやぁ、ガチでちょー楽しかった♡　ブースで展示されていた内容はまぁ想像の範囲だったしWebで見聞きした内容が多かったけれど、かなり楽しめた。

話はちょっとズレますがダックビル社員は展示会に行って勉強するの自由です。もちろん経費でOK。ただし参加した際のレポート提出が義務付けられています。

前の日に展示会にいった社員が「つまんなかった、AIやブロックチェーンもWebで触っているものばかり」「レポート書くのが辛い」という感想だった。参加者も少なく盛り上がりにもかけてました…。とのこと、行く前に聞かなきゃよかったよ…。

会場に着いてみると、確かに想像ほどは人が入っていない。AIがこれだけブームなんだから人でごった返しているのかと思ったらすごく空いていた。

…こ、これは…チャンスだ。　　…YouTuberやってみようw

ということでゆっくり話聞ける雰囲気だったので、派手なブースとか綺麗なお姉さんがいるブースにいって、「すごく面白そうな展示ですね」「インタビューさせてもらっていいですか？」ってお願いします。　　オジサン、恥ずかしい！www

時代だよねぇ！なんと、みなさん嫌がらずに取材を受けてくれるんですよw
しかも1発どりでそれなり面白いインタビュー動画ができあがっちゃうんだよ。こんなん10年前だったらまったく考えられない。動画配信って完全に一般化したんだなぁ。

で、ライブでDiscord（社内チャットツール）に取材動画をリアルタイム投稿していきます。いろんなコメントがリアルタイムについて、こっちはすっかり現場中継気分w
終わってから気がついたんだけれど、 臨場感あるし、しっかり話も聞くし、社内の反応も高い。これレポート提出よりよっぽどいいな！楽しい経験だったなぁ。

“I Went to a Cutting-Edge Tech Exhibition”

I attended “NextTechWeek2024,” held at Makuhari Messe from November 20th to 22nd. Wow, it was seriously so much fun! While most of the booths—aside from one—were pretty predictable and full of things I already knew about, it was still fascinating.

On a related note, Duckbill employees are free to attend exhibitions like this to learn. Of course, expenses are covered. However, they are required to submit a report afterward.

The day before, an employee who attended the exhibition said, “It was boring. The AI and blockchain stuff was all things we’ve seen online already. Writing the report is such a drag.” They also mentioned, “There weren’t many attendees, and it lacked excitement.” Honestly, I wish I hadn’t asked them about it before going…

When I arrived at the venue, sure enough, there weren’t as many people as I had imagined. With AI being such a hot trend, I expected the place to be packed, but it was surprisingly empty.

…This… this is an opportunity!
…Maybe I’ll try being a YouTuber, lol.

So, with the relaxed atmosphere, I took my time visiting flashy booths and those with beautiful booth attendants. I approached them with, “This exhibition looks super interesting! Can I interview you?” Man, it was embarrassing for an old guy like me! LOL.

But hey, this is the era we live in! Amazingly, everyone was willing to be interviewed without hesitation. And, in just one take, I ended up with surprisingly entertaining interview videos. Ten years ago, this would have been unthinkable. Video streaming has become completely normalized.

During the exhibition, I posted the interview videos live on Discord (our internal chat tool) in real time. Real-time comments started pouring in, and I felt like I was doing a live broadcast! When it was all over, I realized something: the live videos provided a real sense of presence, I got to listen deeply to what people were saying, and the reactions from the team were fantastic. This was way better than writing a report! What a fun experience.
